A lesson learnt

Well it has been a busy busy week ( can't belive it's been a whole week since i posted on here!! ) As you have seen the Mr Burns head has been finished, the deadline was last wednesday and I managed to get it done on the Sunday as I knew this week was going to be busy. The man I was making it for was going to come and pick it up on weds afternoon, I got a text saying he would be 10 mins........ 2 and a half hours later he hadn't turned up and I had heard nothing, quite annoyed ( as I got abit nervous as money was going to be a topic to discuss ) I texted and he said he was running late and that he wouldn't be able to pick it up that day. The gig the head was intended to promote was on Saturday morning and after about 3 texts during the rest of the week I eventually heard from him on Saturday afternoon!!!!! I was sooooo annoyed! He still hasn't turned up to pick it up ( or to cross my palm with silver!! ) All that time and effort I put into making it and the bloke just didn't bother to come and get it, or to contact me, a lesson well learnt I feel. I have so much other bits and bobs I could have been doing instead of the head!! ggggrrrrr anyhows we learn and move on, so next fancy dress party I goto I know who I'm going to be!

On a lighter note, here's what I have been making at the toddler group I go to.

It's such a cool group, every week there's a talk or demo in a room seperate from the kiddies and you can go through leaving your little ones with the helpers and they keep an eye on them. A couple of weeks ago it was to make a nativity wall hanging so I went through and here it is so far! It's kinda quilting ( I think ) but the characters colours are all painted on and then stitched around. I have really enjoyed it so far, the other night a few people went to her house to get more done ( gorgeous house ) and right at the top of the house she has a sewing room full of gorgeous stuff that she had made, really lovely quilts and some really cool old lady doll's ( they reminded me of the old ladies that often appear in agatha christie films!! ) She offered to teach us anything ( she appears to know loads about sewing and making stuff!! ) brill, so I hope to ask her to teach me how to make a quilt.

For this week I have to make things for the craft fair on Saturday?!?!?!? and try to finish my wall hanging and try to put mr burns behind me.

Mr Burns!!

Well after a hectic week of papiermacheing and fretting, here he is!!

He kinda turned out okay, I was really pleased with him, right up and till Steve went to put him on his head and it didn't fit!?!?!!? Aahhhh I just hope that the person who is going to be wearing it has a small head!!!!! It was all going well, it was! I think the prob was the ballon I was making it on, ( yup the ole balloon trick from school!! ) it popped and I don't think it was completely dry so I reckon it shrunk as it dried out! It still fits on my head and I don't think I have a small head, so it should be okay?!?! Well it's done now.

What else has been going on, it seems to have turned soopa frosty here, loads of chilly days with brilliant blue skys, lovely!! I must try and post more often as it's tricky to know what to right in a sum up of a week. Right so a few things crossed off the ole list this week, (photos to follow of a really cool quilty type thing I am doing, details soon, oh what a cliffhanger bet ya can't wait?!?!? ) Anyhows with another crafty fair aproaching I shall grab my felt, a spalsh of booze and plonk myself down somewhere!

Animation is Fab!!

Well I did the animation workshop last monday night with a group of children from my sisters school and i was a little bit scared ( talking in front of people not really my thang! ) But it went brilliantly!! I really enjoyed it, got all excited about animation again!! Brilliant and some of the work the children did was really good!! Totally great a really good thing to do!!

And on a more crafty note I managed to finish this wee snowman last night! I like him but I think he's alittle bit on the wonky side also I think I should have done his face in a more snowmany style, ie dotty coal for his mouth and an orange carrot nose, next time....

Next on the to do list I have to make a Mr Burns ( of simpsons fame ) mask, it's to promote a DJ thats doing his dj thing here! I have a couple of weeks but aaahhh haven't done anything like that for ages. I reckon papiermache will be the key, wish me luck!!!

Little piccie

Here's a piccie I have done for a friend of a friend, I am quite pleased with it! I wanted to go for a graphic kinda thang and this is the result, luckily he really likes it and so do I horrah!!
I'm getting ready to do an animation workshop for some children at my sisters school, I have only done workshops with other people, this will be the first on my own!! Since finishing work as an animator just before having the wee boy I haven't done any animation at all but got all excited looking at all my animation books trying to think what to do. It should be fun and I'm really looking forward to it, right off to make a flick book, horrah!!
