A Beetroot experiment!

I was just cooking some beetroot for our dinner ( as you do! ) and as I had bought some plain fabric that day I was thinking about it ( as you do!) thinking about what I could do with it and then I was struck by a genius thought... I'd dye some in the beetroot water! So I cut abit off and after removing and eating said beetroot, plonked in the fabric left it for a few hours and to my suprise ....nothing, all the colour just rinsed away. Hey ho it was worth a try and has now got me thinking about natural dyes and whether anything I grow at the allotment could double up as fabric dye!?!? Herrmm a little research and I shall have the answers but for now a cold ale and a jolly ole sit down and horrah!

Its finished......... but is it??

Here's a painting that I have had on the go for a while now! It is fairly big and took quite a while, including times when I wasn't sure about it so didn't do any for ages. But now I think it's finished! Well I think so..... yes it is.... it's finished!! I know it looks like a load of outlines but thats how I wanted it to be, somedays I'm sure its finished and others I'm not sure if i should fill it in?!?!? Today is the day though that I decide it is finished!!! and it shall be hung in stans room! Horrah!! I'm going to start another one of a ladybird and play about with filling it in with colour.
I also bought some scraps of fabric from 'Sunflower fabrics' up the road from me, heres there web site! http://www.sunflowerfabrics.com/ They had a sale on some fabric scraps and sold them by weight!! So I bought these, my favourite is the one on the right, but what shall I do with them. Thinking caps on!!

Holiday snaps and a flower piccie!

Well here are some snaps from our recent holiday! The monkey isn't native to Dorset, we went to Monkeyworld ( the main reason we chose Dorset, I am addicted to 'Monkey Business' on tv ) It was so brilliant, the monkeys are mostly rescued and taken to Monkeyworld to be with other Monkeys. Some have really sad tales, alot were used as photographers props in tourist areas of Europe and when they get too old and too strong they are not wanted anymore and dumped! Some came from labs too! Monkeyworld looks like a really cool place for them to live so I'm sure they are all happy now, they are too cool!
The beautiful cliff top view was the view the small herd of cows had the pleasure of all day long, lucky ole them!
The feverfew photo was just thrown in for good measure as it's very pretty and apparently good for head aches, though I haven't tried it.
We managed to pop up the allotment today and harvested loads, I really enjoy eating food when I can boringly point out how many of the veg are home grown, love it, it tastes so delicious compared to bought stuff ( I have been known to say that a few times too, but it's so true! )
I haven't worked out how to get photos within the text yet, but hey ho they are there thats the main thing.

Ain't it always the way I had plenty time but no ideas! Now I am home my head is full of things I want to do, hey ho, once I get rolling I'm sure all will go okay?!?

I took loads of photos that need to be sorted out, when they are I shall pop some on here!! I love my digital camera but I do become even more click happy than with the film camera, not good as we end up with about 7 photos of the same thing, just in case!! I took soem cine film of him on the beach too, hopefully it'll be lovely, I love the look of cine film.

I want to join in the month of softies fun!!!! I think I shall this month, I'm abit scared, not sure why but I'm gunna do it! Sock monkey ...I'll give it a go.... oooh exciting!!

Birthday Goodies

Stans little party went really well, lots of fun had by all. He was very lucky and got some lovely pressies, we had a car full on the way home and still no room for the clam! Amongst other things he got this lovely book from Molly, its all about a rabbit called Stanley who likes 'mucking about in his hutch!' who one day 'steals the show as rabbits are much cleverer than they look! ' Gorgeous illustrations too. We shall have lots of fun reading this and playing with all his new toys!

Unbirthday Fish

This little fish I made for little Miss Molly's unbirthday pressie. She has gingham fins and tail ( it's the law as I love gingham! ) and her body is felt. After I did the line round her head I was having trouble thinking of what to put in the body space, all looked abit empty, so I popped a flower there with a ladybird button center, can't go wrong with a flower/blossom!!
I think she liked it as she wanted to chew it!!! Coolio!

Gerald

Heres Gerald! He's a giraffe!! I made him for my friends little girl, I hope she likes him. He's from a pattern I found in 'The Golden Hands Toy Box' sewing book published in the lovely 70's ( can you tell?? ) He did have some eye lids but the made him look abit scary so I quickly chopped them off!
